Our firm was founded by Mr Gus Campbell in May 1976. Due to business needs Mr Campbell opened a second office in Armagh in June 1986. Our firm operates from 10-12 Carleton Street, Portadown, Co. Armagh, Northern Ireland BT623EN and from 21 College Street, Armagh, Northern Ireland, BT619BT.

Retired High Court Judge Criticises Cuts To The Legal Aid System

Sir John Royce, a very recently retired High Court judge, has gone on record criticising the extent of the legal aid cuts that the Government has made. This comes as they look to make further cuts of around £220 million from the annual criminal case legal aid budget. Call For Regulation Of Wills To Be Reformed

The government is being urged to regulate the rules regarding Wills as the Legal Ombudsman believes the present situation leaves the market wide open to abuse. There are a great many Wills each year which are written by people who are Will writers but not solicitors, and as it stands these Wills, around 180,000 of them, are exempt from the complaints handling body. The Legal Ombudsman believes this should not be the case and that these people should also be able to use their services, as it is grossly unfair that many people who have Wills written have no access to redress even though issues with them it is claimed quite regularly crop up. Complaints about Wills and about probate are the 3rd highest source of complaints to the regulator, with the Ombudsman dealing with around 1,000 complaints on these issues last year. The main issues appear to be the costs involved, a failure to accurately follow instructions and a delay in writing up the Will.
